Life is better together.
Relationships matter.
These aren't just catchy sayings or cliches. These values drive us a body of Christ followers. We believe the Bible clearly teaches that life alongside fellow believers is crucial. In a time when isolation is the norm, small groups help us press into community and aid in our spiritual formation.
Our small group ministry provides a place where believers can grow in their relationship with the Lord while simultaneously growing in their relationship with one another. They help us know and be known.
All small groups at CBC meet on Sunday from 6:00pm-7:30pm in homes throughout our community! Signup for one below or contact the church office for more information!
Fall 2022 Small Groups
Sundays from 6:00pm-7:30pm // September 11th -December 18th

Chris & Ashley Wacker : Psalm 119
Even the most mature believers face dark nights of the soul. During those times God seems distant, his Word feels dry, and the vibrant intimacy we knew before seems absent leaving us wondering, “Where is the Lord in this?” In Psalm 119, Matt Chandler aims to introduce viewers to the words of King David who experienced similar seasons of life. Serving as the anchor for the study, Psalm 119 demonstrates the power of God’s Word in the lives of believers and its ability to provide a warm blanket for the soul.

Greg & Glenna Teague: ALPHA Fundamentals of the Faith
What am I doing on Earth? What is the point of life? Where am I headed? Is there life after this life? Is There more to life than this? Alpha is for those who desire to examine their spiritual lives as well as those who want to grow in their defense of the faith. Alpha at Calvary Baptist Church starts with a meal at 5:15! Jacob & Jenny Tanner: James: A Faith that Works
We all want a faith that won't let us down in times of trouble or loss, uncertainty or fear. A faith that can pull us through the worst--and best--times in our lives. This is the kind of faith that James writes about. It is a faith that we must practice day by day, a faith that works." This small group only requires a Bible, and we have extras if you forget yours. (Note - If you can't make every week's lesson, have to discontinue coming late in the semester, or will have to start later in the year, that's okay. Each week will have a stand-alone lesson, not strictly dependent on attending all of the previous gatherings.

Rick & Sharon Johnson: 1 John

Phil & Barbara Cockrell: Counter Culture
Heaven is a hot topic on today’s bestseller lists. But what does the Bible tell us about the afterlife? What happens the moment after we die? And what will our redeemed relationships be like? Ingram digs into Scripture to reveal what God wants us to know about the hereafter—and how it affects our decisions today.

Stew & Gayleen Frederick:
For more than 15 years, God has used Experiencing God in His work, showing believers how to know Him intimately while encouraging them to step out in faith and join Him in His work with miraculous results.

Sundays from 6:00pm-7:30pm // January 22 - May 21

Closed - Chris & Ashley Wacker : 1 Peter
This world looks nothing like the promised perfect kingdom of God. And yet we as God's people must live in it every day. In The Book of 1 Peter, Kyle Idleman walks through the short letter and unpacks the importance of our witness in this world.
The world's not as it should be. Until the day that God rights all wrongs, we have a job to do. Let's be about the business of the kingdom.

Closed Rick & Sharon Johnson: 1 John
1215 Randolph Street Leavenworth, KS 66048
This is a different approach from the previous 1 John study. The material we will use for this study will come from 1, 2, 3 John & Jude: Established in Truth ... Marked by Love. By John Mac Arthur and will be a more general survey of 1 John. With less material to go through and more questions for the group, we will pursue more conversation and learning as a group with much less of a Sunday School feel.

Closed Phil & Barbara Cockrell: End Times
4451 10th Avenue, Leavenworth, KS 66048 (CBC Gathering Room)
This 12-week VBVMI Group Study on End Times features thought-provoking teaching of core biblical concepts in prophecy. The workbook prepares both individual students and small groups for a deeper study of eschatology by examining key ideas and highlights from the book of Revelation, Daniel and other scripture. Students will gain a foundational understanding of God's plan for Israel, the Church and the end of the age.

Stew & Gayleen Frederick: 1 Samuel

Closed Mark and Marie Bridges: The Foundations
Millions of Christians have decided that the Bible is out of date. They’ve decided that the words of Jesus aren’t always true. Today, possibly more than at any time in America’s history, a culture detached from God and willingly ignorant of His hand in creation and world events needs Jesus. In this hard-hitting yet often humorous new DVD series, popular Australian-born author Ken Ham uses modern events as the backdrop for the most important messages of his life.

Jonathan and Beth Dowty: Trusting God
Is God in control? Can I trust God? What is our responsibility when things are hard? How can I grow through adversity? Explore the scope of God’s care and control over nations, nature, and the tiny details of your life. You’ll find yourself trusting Him more completely―even when life hurts.
