COVID-19 response & service signup
We can't wait to worship with you! In order to maintain the most effective social distancing possible, we ask that you pre-register for one of our two services (9:00am & 10:30am). In order for us to plan effectively, please register by Friday at noon!
Our desire is to create a safe worship environment for you & your family. Why? Because your family is our family.
Maintaining Social Distancing
The Federal Government has put forth a three-phased plan. All three phases call for some degree of physical distancing. Most of the changes below are a result of our desire to adhere to the recommendation to maintain 6 feet of separation between family units. These guidelines are ever changing, as new information become available, we will adapt and communicate with you.
To maintain 6 feet of separation between family units we will be blocking off every other pew. Moreover, each pew will have a 6-foot section marked off to maintain distance between family units. Each unit will enter and exit at the pew-end closest to them, and we will be dismissing by row in order to maintain social distancing requirements.
We understand this may sound confusing. However, we’re committed to making this change as seamless as possible. When you enter our building, you will be given a sanitized laminated number that will indicate which pew to occupy.
Social distancing inevitably adds to our pre-COVID space constraints. Therefore, we will be adding a second service. This is important to note. Starting on May 24th, we will have two services. One at 9:00am and another at 10:30am. To ensure we can maintain the appropriate distancing, we are asking all attendees to signup for the service of their choice by noon on Friday at cbclvks.com/servicesignup. You may also call the church office to signup at 913.682.3790
To help prevent the spread of germs, we will be suspending our normal offering time. Instead, offering plates will be placed in the foyer for you to continue to worship through the giving of your tithes and offerings. Many have chosen to sign up for our secure online giving portal. We’d highly encourage you to do this! You may sign up by visiting our website at
We also recognize many of our members find themselves in the higher risk category. We would encourage you to stay home if you believe that is the best decision for your health. Pending the installation of new live streamlining video equipment, our 10:30am service will be available in real time on Facebook, YouTube, and our website. If you do not have access to a computer/tablet/cell phone let us know. We will gladly send you a CD recording of each Sunday service.
It should go without saying, but if you are ill in any fashion we ask that you please remain home for your safety and the safety of others. We'd also ask that you let one of our pastors know so we can best care for you.
During and between each service, high touch points (bathrooms, door knobs, hard surfaces on the pews, etc.) will be disinfected by a team of volunteers. Moreover, our contracted cleaning service will do a more thorough disinfecting of the building following our Sunday services.
Children’s Ministry Changes
We love kids! We believe families are vitally important to the health of our church. These current restrictions have led us to adopt the following plan. For the time being, we will suspend our Children’s Church and nursery. It’s just not feasible to maintain the required social distancing among our children. Please know, this was not an easy decision, but it is a necessary one to protect your children.
All is not lost! We will be adding a children’s teaching time during our service, and a kid-friendly song to encourage your children in the faith. Each child will also be receiving a small bag every week that has coloring material, snacks, and a special item that will be referenced during our children’s time and the day’s sermon.
Sunday School Shifts
Small group life is important to Calvary. Our current space limitations do not allow for the proper distancing. We are currently working to provide adult Sunday School classes via the Zoom platform.
Since this started we’ve been creating a weekly children’s Sunday school starter. The video is streamed on our Facebook page and is about 20-25 minutes long. Based on the Gospel Project material we have been using, this video helps to engage the hearts of our children and equips their parents to lead Christ-centered discussions around a particular text and idea.
Additionally, The Gospel Project has generously made all of their digital resources available for free. This includes all the adult material and children’s material (lesson, activity page, video, etc). Please visit to find out how to access this material. We highly encourage you to print this off at home if you’re able. If not, let us know and we can mail the material to you.
Every Sunday we provide a light breakfast, coffee, and juice to foster fellowship among our members. Due to food safety issues, we will be ceasing this for the time being. Feel free to bring your own coffee/tea in a mug that has a lid.
